Team Goes Off Island
The
Bluephins have gone off island for the first time this season. Almost 50 swimmers travelled on the team bus
to Sackville, NB for the one day Invitational competition. While the racing conditions were not ideal,
much needed racing experience was gained by all swimmers. Over 100 swimmers from four teams; Sackville
Waves, Mount A, Moncton and Charlottetown competed in the one day event.

Clare Fitzpatrick, Jacqueline McQuaid, Samatha Williams and Lexie Carruthers placed 2nd in the 12&Under 200 Freestyle Relay. All four swimmers swam to lifetime best times in the process.
“The pool in Charlottetown provides the optimal training and
racing experience for our swimmers. I believe
our swimmers were affected mentally and physically this weekend by the less
then optimal conditions in Sackville” said Head Coach William Calhoun. “The biggest obstacle mentally and physically
was the water temperature which was 6 degrees warmer than our practice
conditions here in Charlottetown. I
strongly believe that our swimmers will get a mental boost when we head into
the Summerside pool this weekend under conditions we are more familiar with”
added Calhoun.
Full results are still being tabulated so watch for further news on this event later in the week in this location and in the newspaper!!
