Twenty Charlottetown Bluephins were on deck in Fredericton, New Brunswick, last weekend as part of Swim PEI’s All-Star Team. The
team was made up of thirty-two of the Island’s fastest swimmers selected from the Charlottetown Bluephins and the Summerside
Dolphins. Team
PEI joined teams from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to participate in the combined training camp and swim meet.
“It
was a great experience for our swimmers,” says Bluephin coach Kelly
O’Connell. “It allowed them to compete with the top swimmers in the
region and learn new skills and strategies from many different coaches.”
O’Connell says the meet was competitive:
“Our swimmers did quite well against their All-Star counterparts from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.”
Bluephins earned nine top-three finishes at the meet.

Kevin Matheson finished first in the 50-metre freestyle event. The fourteen-year-old also came second in the 50-metre butterfly.

Jacqueline McQuaid, 11, was third in the 50-metre freestyle for her age-group.

Matthew Smith, 14, came second in the 200-metre backstroke and third place in the 50-metre backstroke.

William Stewart, 14, placed third in the 200-metre freestyle.

Laurel White, 16, was third in the 50-metre backstroke.

Sarah Williams, 14, came first in the 200-metre backstroke and third in the 200-metre butterfly event.

Alexis Craig, Iain Crowell, Clare Fitzpatrick, Isabelle Fitzpatrick,
Desiree Gallant, Matthew Lantz, Alexander MacKay, Emily MacLennan, Emma
Smith, Samantha Williams, Isaac Wilson and Timmy Yorke.
